Bring on the brights! After weeks of wearing blush and beige—with occasional black-and-white moments—on Thursday, the recently wed Duchess of Sussex brightened up an event in London by wearing a sunshiny hue.

Stepping out with husband Prince Harry, Her Royal Highness was absolutely glowing in a $1,495 canary yellow sleeveless sheath (which immediately sold out) from the label of one our favorite American designers, 33-year-old Brandon Maxwell.

True to form, the Duchess wore a silhouette that was sleek but not too close-fitting, pairing the look with nude heels and hosiery, and a center-parted chignon that closely resembled her wedding hairstyle.

Markle’s choice to wear a pop of color might’ve been due to the absence of Queen Elizabeth at the event. As the queen generally favors bright colors, it has been surmised that her new granddaughter-in-law wisely wears more muted hues when in her presence, so as not to distract from the monarch. But whatever the reason, we hope the duchess has more opportunities to shine!
