Kinks, curls, coils, fros, locs, twists, braids and all things natural hair will be out in abundance this weekend, as CurlFest, the world’s largest natural beauty festival, makes its annual return to New York City—this time, relocating from its old home in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and bringing the party uptown to Randall’s Island on Saturday, July 27.

Conceived by the brilliant black female minds that comprise the Curly Girl Collective, this year’s partners include some of the biggest names in textured haircare and black beauty, including DevaCurl, Mielle Organics, Girl + Hair, Eden Bodyworks, The Lip Bar (which is ramping up for National Lipstick Day on Monday), and many, many more. In fact, a few are even offering online discounts in conjunction with the festival, which has grown tremendously since its beginning as a brainstorming session in 2010—over 35,000 strong at last year’s celebration.

But aside from a new location and all the samples, shopping and swag a natural hair aficionado could desire, what can attendees expect from CurlFest 2019? Community, conversation and inspiration—there is a full day’s worth of celebrity-filled panels, curated bites, pop-ups, experiences and music planned on Saturday, in addition to brown skin and gorgeous natural hairstyles as far as the eye can see (because we sho’ nuff show out for this one.)

But Brooklyn-based devotees, don’t despair; CurlFest is still showing love the Brooklyn way with Sunday’s Roller Set at LeFrak Center in Prospect Park. Lace up those skates and live out your Roll Bounce dreams as your natural tresses bounce to the beat!

In short, CurlFest has your weekend planned—and it’s gonna be a hot one. If you haven’t already, cop your tickets (including a very reasonable $49 Weekend Combo ticket) at the CurlFest site.
