Michelle Obama is many things: mother, wife, daughter, sister, former forever first lady, record-breaking bestselling author, #bodygoals and fictional mentor/best friend/auntie/big sister in the heads of more folks than she can probably imagine. And today, our inspirational icon turns 55, with plenty of reasons to celebrate and reasons for us to celebrate her.

But ahead of the countless birthday tributes that will undoubtedly pour in for our beloved FLOTUS, one has already seized the crown—and no, it wasn’t Barack’s. Sorry, Mr. President, but this year Beyoncé stole your thunder by commanding the Hive to bow down to our once and future queen.

Don’t go looking for this adorable picture of a likely 5- or 6-year-old Michelle LaVaughn Robinson in the photo pages of her bestseller, Becoming, because it’s not there (trust us, we looked). Leave it to Beyoncé’s camp to unearth something rare and absolutely precious to celebrate her homegirl’s 55th birthday.

Of course, hubby Barack would never leave this day uncelebrated, posting his own tribute, just to remind us how cute he and Michelle are together and have always been.

And while we’ve still got a lot of birthday love left to go, folks are finding fitting ways to honor our queen, including Essence and Elle magazines, who shouted out their recent cover star...

Women’s media brand Makers, who reminded us exactly why Mrs. Obama is such an inspiration...

Souls of Black Girls, who, like Beyoncé, reminded us that the wondrous woman we now know as Michelle Obama was once just a little girl on the South Side of Chicago...

And a mom who reminded us just how much #blackgirlmagic Auntie ’Chelle is still bestowing upon little girls everywhere who look up to her.

Happy 55th birthday to forever first lady Michelle Obama! We love you!
