The Glow Up Anthem of the Week: The Internet Wants You to ‘Come Over’

It’s June, and you know what that means? It’s Black Music Month, y’all!

The other day, I buzzed in on a friend who was feeling high on some new music. Needing a little pick-me-up of my own, I asked whom I should be listening to, and she let me in on some new, very-grown-folks’ music from urban darlings the Internet.

“Come Over” is a very sexy single from the band’s upcoming fourth album, Hive Mind, due out July 20. Frankly, I’ve been so turned on since hearing it that I can’t seem to turn it off.

And as I type these last few sentences before heading into the weekend, this is exactly the kind of sensual, so-ready-for-summer, single-girl energy I’m ready to take with me. After all, ’tis the season for anything to happen ... and to that point, there’s even an unexpected little sonic teaser at the end.

Honorable mention: Forever fave Naomi Campbell can add DJ to her growing list of merits, because she put together an Afrobeats playlist for British Vogue that has me in the mood to sweat—or, at the very least, practice my poses, as Campbell and Diddy do below as Fela plays in the background.

In fact, I can’t think of any better complement to the Naija fever Nike and the World Cup have sparked than a healthy dose of Fela and friends as an accompanying summer soundtrack (and no, this playlist is not all—or even mostly—Fela).

It’s June, y’all—time to get hot! Enjoy!

My humble submission for awesome new music is Tierra Whack’s incredible 15-minute visual album, Whack World. It is so, so good. I haven’t stopped listening to it since I downloaded it 3 days ago.
