There are certain milestones in life that are simply undeniable. For instance, I’ve accepted that I’m now at check-for-stray-gray-hairs age, always-carry-a-pair-of-tweezers age, and even the cursed age where I find myself buying more sensible heels than the sexy stilettos I wore throughout my 20s and early 30s.
But when I reached the I-need-reading-glasses age last spring, I was not ready. In fact, I went through months of squinting at fine print held at arm’s length from my face before I’d even admit I was doing it. But I’d be damned if I was going to find myself in a pair of drugstore specials. (With these shoes? I don’t think so.) Frankly, my individualistic tendencies weren’t even keen on wearing specs I could easily identify on anyone else. I mean, if you’re going to wear something on your face, it should be uniquely you, right?
Thankfully, one day I stumbled into SEE Eyewear. Suddenly, the prospect of spectacles wasn’t daunting at all; this sweet little eyewear boutique—one of 44 in the United States and Canada—was wall-to-wall limited-edition frames (never more than 100 are made—total!). I fell in love with several pairs of SEE frames, found my signature pair (in two colorways) and haven’t looked back.
So when fellow SEE devotee Veronica Webb and I met last fall, we instantly bonded over our shared love for the bespoke eyewear brand. And because we love to share our loves with you, we visited our friend and SEE store manager Breanna Williams at the brand’s Brooklyn, N.Y., location to give you a peek at what makes this brand so special. Suffice to say, it was an eye-opening experience!
