You Get a Ponytail and You Get a Ponytail! Oprah Gives Us the Scoop on Going Blond for A Wrinkle in Time

Whether or not you’ve seen A Wrinkle in Time yet, you’ve undoubtedly seen images of the great and powerful O (as we like to call her here at The Glow Up) as we’ve never seen her before: blond, baby.

Full Disclosure: Disney spent all the coins to invite The Root’s Danielle Young out to Los Angeles to watch the film on the Disney lot and to interview the star-studded cast. Before she even hit send, she was screaming, “Yasss!”

But as Oprah tells The Root’s Danielle Young, this wasn’t your average blond wig. Check out the clip above to find out what it really took to turn our favorite billionaire into Mrs. Which (hint: a touch of heavy metal), and if you want to know more, check out The Glow Up’s interview with celebrity hairstylist Kim Kimble, who designed all of the incredible looks for the film!

Maiysha Kai is Managing Editor of The Glow Up, co-host of The Root Presents: It's Lit! podcast, and your average Grammy-nominated goddess next door...May I borrow some sugar?

I have a semi related question. I am trying to find a black salon in Reno and I am having zero luck. Even when the nail pics show black hands, the hair pics are all white. Google, yelp, yellow pages etc are not giving me what I need. I have searched using Black/African American/ethnic.

I am trying to find a place that uses the same straightening process I had done as a teen (early to mid 90s). The stuff they use on white hair did nothing, and those keratin treatments are off the table. It was lye based I think? I definitely had some scalp burns and bubbles after. But it worked perfectly! My hair is very coarse, thick, and curly and in the last 5 years has become increasingly resistant to bleach and dye.

I do not have the spoons to argue with hair dressers at all. I just want to go in and get my service and have straight hair at the end. Suggestions?
